Every school leaver a life saver
The Government rejected the opportunity to save lives by including Emergency Life Support in the national curriculum. Join our campaign to change their minds.
Every year in the UK, 150,000 people die when first aid could have saved them. Emergency Life Support (ELS) is a set of actions to keep someone alive until professional help arrives.
Polling by the British Heart Foundation shows that the vast majority of children, teachers and parents want ELS on the curriculum, like it is in many other countries worldwide, including 36 US states. Yet the Government rejected an ELS clause at the committee stage of the Education Bill.
Read about Tuesday's Westminster Hall debate on ELS here. You can read Julie Hilling's speech in full here.
You can also use the links on the right to write to your MP today to ask for their support; write to your local newspaper; download a letter to your child's school to ask whether they teach ELS or would consider doing so; and download a letter to Michael Gove, the Secretary of State for Education.
